Can you share your personal story of working in the freight forwarding industry and how you see the future of the traditional freight forwarding business?

I have been working in the freight forwarding industry for 14 years, gaining experience in all areas to develop myself as a sales representative and eventually become the national sales director at Segrove. Over the past few years, the industry has evolved significantly, incorporating more technology and raising customer expectations. The digital age has transformed traditional freight forwarding, shifting the focus from simply booking shipments at low costs to becoming a specialized  at added services . Now, customers can provide minimal information while we ensure their cargo reaches its destination efficiently. Ultimately, I believe every freight forwarder must embrace digitalization to stay aligned with the industry’s evolution

Your company has been on the market for an incredible 70+ years. What strategies have helped Segrove Group survive and maintain a competitive edge in the industry over the past couple of years? What makes you unique in comparison

Segrove Group’s legacy of over 70 years in the market is a testament to our ability to adapt and innovate. In recent years, our most effective strategies have centered around leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency, while maintaining the personalized service that our clients value. We’ve focused on building strong, long-term relationships with both customers and partners, which has allowed us to navigate challenges and capitalize on opportunities. What truly differentiates us from our competitors is our commitment to not just offering standard logistics solutions but tailoring our services to meet the unique needs of each client, ensuring their success is intertwined with ours. This combination of innovation, adaptability, and customer focus has been key to not only surviving but thriving in a constantly evolving industry

If you can, share a recent example of the best-case situation that you are very proud of and that your team managed really well.

One of the recent successes that we are particularly proud of involved a complex multi-modal shipment for a key client. The project required coordination between air, sea, and land transport, with extremely tight deadlines and various regulatory challenges in different countries. Our team worked seamlessly across departments to manage every aspect of the logistics, from customs clearance to real-time tracking and client communication. What made this a standout achievement was not only the scale and complexity of the operation but also the way our team handled unforeseen obstacles, such as sudden changes in regulations and unexpected delays. We successfully delivered the cargo on time, exceeding the client’s expectations, and strengthening our relationship with them. This project truly showcased our ability to operate under pressure while delivering exceptional results

Digitalization and technological advancements, such as AI, are evidently changing the industry. Can you share your attitude towards this trend and planned investments in technology to enhance your logistics operations?

Digitalization and AI are revolutionizing logistics, and at Segrove, we view these advancements as critical to our future growth. These technologies not only enhance operational efficiency but also enable us to offer smarter, more responsive services to our clients. We believe that adopting these technologies will enable us to streamline operations, reduce costs, and deliver more personalized services. Ultimately, our goal is to blend digital innovation with our customer-focused approach, ensuring that technology enhances the Segrove experience rather than replacing the human touch.

  What type of service has Segrove included in your offering recently and why? Do you plan to introduce any new services in the near future?

Recently, Segrove has expanded its service offerings to include more comprehensive warehousing and distribution capabilities, as well as enhanced customs brokerage services, especially for cross-border shipments between the U.S. and Mexico. The driving factor behind these additions has been the increasing demand for integrated solutions that simplify logistics for our clients. By offering end-to-end services under one roof, we’ve been able to improve efficiency and reduce costs for our customers. Looking ahead, we are exploring new AI-driven solutions to further optimize supply chain management, with a focus on improving real-time visibility and predictive analytics to enhance our service delivery.

  What are the key strategic partners that your company relies on, and has the start of cooperation had a great impact on the company?

Segrove’s growth has been significantly influenced by strategic partnerships with customs authorities in both the U.S. and Mexico, as well as collaborations with international shipping lines and global freight networks. These partnerships have allowed us to offer faster and more reliable services, especially for cross-border logistics. Working closely with technology providers has also enabled us to integrate advanced digital solutions, making our operations more agile and transparent. These partnerships have been vital in positioning Segrove as a trusted logistics provider in the global supply chain

  What was the main reason for you to join WOF Alliance, and what are your expectations of the overall WOF platform and the foreign agents?

Our motivation to join the WOF Alliance was driven by the opportunity to expand our global reach, particularly in key growth areas like Mexico. With its proximity to the U.S. and the growing trend of nearshoring, Mexico is becoming an increasingly important logistics hub. The WOF platform allows us to connect with international partners who share this vision and can help us capitalize on these opportunities. By leveraging the network and expertise within the alliance, we aim to foster stronger partnerships, enter new markets, and enhance our service offerings, especially in the Mexico-U.S. corridor
